Mendocino Dance Project creates original performances in theaters and outdoor spaces that bring audiences together through art, story, and our shared humanity. We are committed to keeping the performing arts alive and accessible in rural communities by creating meaningful opportunities to experience live dance.

About Mendocino Dance Project

Mendocino Dance Project explores the human experience and our relationship to nature through the rich language of dance, enriching the cultural landscape of Mendocino County through performances, education, and community engagement. It is our belief that professional and culturally relevant opportunities to engage in the arts should be available to anyone and should not be determined by geographical location or cost. Our priority is to keep the performing arts alive, accessible, and connected to the communities we serve.

Since 2010, Mendocino Dance Project has brought contemporary dance into the rural communities and landscapes of Mendocino County. Our work is rooted in a belief that dance can be a powerful vehicle for expression, connection, and community-building. Inspired by a deep appreciation for the natural beauty and distinct character of our region, we create programs that bring people together through movement, invite meaningful engagement with place, and expand access to the arts. In 2024, Mendocino Dance Project became an independent nonprofit organization, strengthening our capacity to build on this work and serve our community for years to come.

With a dynamic and athletic style, we bring the power of dance to theaters and outside spaces, on and off the ground. In addition to performing and creating original shows, Mendocino Dance Project teaches creative movement in schools, offers free dance classes for people living with Parkinson’s Disease, and teaches workshops and classes throughout the county, building community and deepening our relationships to each other and to nature.
